Scholarships & Funding for Indian Students Going Abroad
Going abroad is an investment — but there are real funding sources specifically for Indian students. Here are the ones worth applying for.

- Amount: €700–1,000/month depending on destination country
- How to apply: Through your own universitys international office — check if they have Erasmus+ agreements
- Tip: IIT, NIT, and many private universities have these partnerships. Ask your International Relations Office.

Education Loans for Internships Abroad
If grants dont cover your needs, education loans for overseas internships are available from multiple Indian banks. Interest rates are typically lower than personal loans.
SBI Student Loan
State Bank of India offers education loans for international programmes. For internship-related expenses, loans up to Rs. 7.5 lakhs without collateral. Processing is slow (4–6 weeks) — apply early.
HDFC Credila
Specialises in education loans for Indian students going abroad. Faster processing than PSU banks. Covers living expenses in addition to fees. Good for 3–6 month programmes.
Prodigy Finance
International platform specifically for Indian students studying abroad. Loans in local currency (EUR, GBP). No Indian collateral required. More flexible than Indian banks for short programmes.
InCred Education
Newer NBFC with faster approval. Covers international internship programmes. Competitive rates vs traditional banks. Good if you need funds quickly.
Company-Side Funding
Many internship positions abroad include a stipend. When negotiating your offer, ask specifically:
- Is there a monthly stipend? (Common in Dubai, Singapore, London)
- Does the company cover accommodation? (Common in Japan, Korea)
- Is the visa fee reimbursed? (Common in UAE and tech companies)
- Is there a travel allowance for flights? (Less common, but worth asking)
At Internship Abroad, when we match students to companies, we negotiate these terms as part of the placement process. Many students receive part or full accommodation support — significantly reducing total cost.
Destination-Specific Funding
| Destination | Programme | Amount (INR) |
|---|---|---|
| Germany | DAAD RISE | ~Rs. 67,500/month + travel |
| Any Europe | Erasmus+ ICM | Rs. 63,000–90,000/month |
| Japan | MEXT Research Student | Rs. 1.2L/month (full funding) |
| South Korea | GKS (Global Korea Scholarship) | Fully funded + stipend |
| Singapore | A*STAR Research Attachment | SGD 1,500–2,500/month |
